Teachings of Babaji

...3 APRIL 1980

Babaji spoke generally of unity. We are all equal, despite the country we come from, and national differences should be ignored. We are all a unity. We must shed all jealousy and envy because they are harmful. We are all one with each other and with God.

In order not to provoke Me, you must be quiet at the time of catastrophe. You must concentrate on "Om Namah Shivaya".
With this mantra you can win everything, because it is stronger than all the bombs.

Babaji mentioned the freedom spoken of and promised by politicians. Then He said, in effect: "Theirs is no freedom at all. If you work and are worthy. I shall show you freedom greater than you have ever dreamed about."

...6 APRIL 1982

"You all think devotion is fun. Some day you will have to jump without fear of life or death; then you will be able to make progress. When the time comes, you will have to walk through fire and water."

I Am Harmony

by Radhe Shyam

...In August 1983, Shri Babaji, talking with an American reporter, said: "My message will reach into the depths of the sea and into the heights of the sky. All modern weapons, atom bombs, and arms are ineffective against Mahaprabhuji's message and power. The Message that came from a cave in the Himalayas has now come out into the world at large...

Autobiography of a Yogi

Paramhansa Yogananda

Chapter 33:
The northern Himalayan crags near Badrinarayan are still blessed by the living presence of Babaji, guru of Lahiri Mahasaya. The secluded master has retained his physical form for centuries, perhaps for millenniums. The deathless Babaji is an avatara. This Sanskrit word means "descent"; its roots are ava, "down," and tri, "to pass." In the Hindu scriptures, avatara signifies the descent of Divinity into flesh.

"Babaji's spiritual state is beyond human comprehension," Sri Yukteswar explained to me. "The dwarfed vision of men cannot pierce to his transcendental star. One attempts in vain even to picture the avatar's attainment. It is inconceivable."

Soul Landscapes

Painted by Babaji in Haidakhan / India. 22 pictures representing stages of the soul during cycles of development

Each healing picture depicts the unique, complete state of the soul, a way of 'being', feeling, existing, thinking, doing. Altogether, these pictures represent 22 stages of development, that each human soul passes through. No stage is more advanced than the other, they build a closed circle. The soul advances in spiral form, passing through the same phases again and again, each level becoming more and more subtle, while the principle, the step to be taken remains the same. Thus the healing pictures should never be under-stood as a linear process. The paintings do not depict any real places on this earth; they vibrate on higher levels and have been created as healing 'landscapes' in order to guide, balance and heal the soul.

Babaji: the Unfathomable

by Reichel

Paths to the Higher Self
"I have come to give, only to give. Are you ready to receive? I give everything but few ask for what I have really come to give."
Babaji's teachings encompassed all levels of consciousness. In His physical presence, His words not only referred to the immediate situation, but always contained a further meaning, one which usually only later dawned on the recipient. For example, when someone handed Him a packaged gift, He would often say: "Open." Such an instruction contained much more than merely undoing the wrapping. It gave the impulse for inner unfolding, for the opening of oneself...

Shiva Mahavatar Babaji

by Pola Churchill

ASHRAM LIFE AS AS A STIMULUS TO CHANGE AND GROWTH. The schedule and style of life at the Haidakhan ashram were established and maintained by Babaji to help people break out of their old patterns of living and to establish new patterns, which foster self discipline and spiritual growth of the person who seeks God realization or a life in harmony and unity with the divine. Babaji exposed people to the experiences they needed in order to work through their problems and inner discipline. He would throw angry people together, to let them explode in fury at each other, and if they failed to learn to contol their tempers at that level, He let them taste His anger and their anger directed at Him. To those with over strong or uncontrolled desires for drugs, alchol, sex. money or whatever, He would allow them to indulge themselves to the point of stimulating their own desire to control the urge. He worked constantly at exposing people to themselves, so that they could pull away from their false, limited, unnecessary identifications of themselves.

Message of the Himalayas

by Reichel

BABAJI and the SANATANA DHARMA
The Vedas contain, as the heart of their teaching, an exposition of the divine cosmic laws, governing the way the universe functions and maintains balance. These laws were laid down at the beginning of creation by divine omnipotence and have been passed on through the ages by inspired sages who have reformulated them countless times to make them accessible in a new way to the contemporary, prevailing lifestyle and thinking.
The main themes of the Hindu philosophy of life are: freedom from suffering, liberation during one's lifetime on earth, and the attainment of immortality beyond this lifetime. How liberation (mukti) may be obtained is shown by the example of the avatar - God becomes human so that human may ascend to divinity. The avatar's mission is to initiate a transformation in human beings and to revitalise the laws of the sanatana dharma, involving a complete renewal of everybody and everything on earth. Whatever is not open to receive and harmonise with the more subtle levels of energy, will perish in a process that shall cleanse the whole world of negative forces. The earth, with all life on it, has presently reached this decisive turning point in its evolution.
